Country Life stuck around to the end of the 2025 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-Year-Old Sale to pick up a well-muscled New York-bred filly by racehorse sire FLAMEAWAY (by Scat Daddy, sire of Triple Crown winner Justify). Out of a winning Speightstown mare named Thicker Than Water, the Flameaway filly cost $25,000, and bargain-minded partners who dreamed of Saratoga afternoons with a New York-bred quickly contacted us. We sold 10 shares at No Markup, $2,500 for 10% interests. Blending her parents’ names, partners voted to name her AQUA BLAZE.
She comes from a deep, fast family. Her second dam, Contessa Halo, produced speedster sire KANTHAROS, winner of the Saratoga Special, Grade 2, for 2-year-olds. She also produced ITIGAI, who won the Grade-3 Mr. Prospector Stakes, also a sprint. AQUA BLAZE is with trainer Mike Trombetta’s Laurel string and hopes to make her racing debut in November.
