We look for mares that ran single digit speed numbers on Thorograph or Thoromanager programs, because fast mares make fast foals. Make Amends was fast. She ran a 9 in just her second start and a 10 on a sloppy track to break her maiden, followed by an 8 in an Allowance win. She had 3 wins and 3 seconds with lifetime earnings of $114,048 before selling for $110,000 in foal to Blame.
Purchased for $82,000 at Keeneland in November of 2021 in foal to red-hot commercial sire Maclean’s Music, she’s due early and will be bred back to a Kentucky stallion in 2022. We’ll make MD-bred foals by commercial Kentucky stallions with this young mare in hopes that they’ll sell well and come back to Maryland to earn lucrative breeder awards for partners in the future. The MD-bred program is getting some enhancements to it’s already popular bonus structure starting in 2021, including a 40% maiden win bonus and 30% breeder bonus on stakes.
Shares are $8,200 for a 10% interest, at no markup from the purchase price of $82,000.
Expenses are estimated to be around $300/month for the mare and around $100/month for her foals once they are on the ground, per 10% interest.
