The term "Black Type" is a common one in the business. It comes from the
method sales catalogs identify stakes winning and stakes-placed horses. Any reference to such a stakes winning or placed horse is in bold type. Winners are listed in ALL CAPS BOLD TYPE and placed horses in bold lower case letters.(Graded stakes races are shown with the [G1], [G2], ...symbols.) Because many of the references in this activity are links to explanations, they may show up on the screen as blue (or the color your browser assigns). In some cases, then, black type may be noted as bold blue type. |
