Country Life Farm
STAFF & FAMILY
|
Country Life Farm is a Family-Owned, Full-Service Thoroughbred Breeding Farm
|
A Family Tradition
|
Country Life Farm was founded in 1933
by Adolphe Pons, who as Turf Advisor to August Belmont II handled the sale of Man O' War
at the 1918 Saratoga Yearling Sale. The great handicap horse Discovery carried Pons' silks as a
2-year-old in 1933. The foundation broodmare Raise You, dam of Raise a Native, was bred by Country
Life in 1946.
Following Adolphe's death in 1951, Country Life passed to his
sons, John and Joe. John achieved prominence as two-time president of the Maryland Horse
Breeders Association, while Joe brought stallions such as Saggy and Correspondent to stand
at the historic Maryland nursery.
